AFTER MUCH THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATION OF DUKE HEALTH SYSTEM GUIDELINES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS, WE HAVE DECIDED TO POSTPONE THE DUKE HOMECARE & HOSPICE 2020 GALA.
We have an obligation to the safety of our patients, families, volunteers, and partners. We are disappointed because our wonderful planning committee has been working passionately for this to be the BEST Gala yet, but we look forward to the 2021 Gala! Therefore, the Essence of a Hummingbird Duke Hospice Gala will be postponed until 2021.

We are fortunate to have amazing staff, volunteers, families, and community partners. We are steadfast in our commitment to provide compassionate, expert care to meet the physical, emotional, and clinical needs of our patient and families. We will continue to strive to provide the same level of service you have come to expect from us in our service area. Our goal is to minimize the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus for our patients, staff, donors, and friends. We also strive to protect the members of our community who may be at elevated risk.
These decisions are consistent with the latest data and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and other public health officials, including our own faculty experts. The health and well-being of you, our most valuable partners, is of the utmost importance to us.

Event proceeds have directly benefited Duke Hospice patients and services available to the community at large, including grief counseling programs in the school systems and Camp ReLEAF program.
